I have just added a new page page to our blog titled Gear and Mini Reviews.  From this page I would like to share some of my experiences, good and bad, about the gear and gadgets I use to help assist my photography efforts.  For the time being the reviews are very brief.  Longer reviews with image samples will be following.

San Francisco Part I

On the move in San Francisco

On the move in San Francisco

On June 10 we headed to San Francisco for about two weeks of fun with family and friends. Laura and I arrived in SF a day before her friends and my dad arrived from Seattle. I met my dad at the airport and we headed up to Yosemite for a photography workshop while Laura waited for her friends to arrive.

Must be my lucky day!

Must be my lucky day!

The next three nights were very different for both of us. Laura spent her days shopping, drinking coffee and walking the streets of SF while my dad and I hiked around 8000 foot mountains taking hundreds (693 to be exact) :-) of photos around Yosemite.

On the fourth day, all 6 of us met in Ghirardelli Square for some ice cream, more photos and an early Father’s Day dinner.

Laura and I saw everyone off to the airport and then had 8 more days to relax, shop and get our fill of Mexican food, the one food group we miss most since moving overseas.

Burning money

It was a beautiful winter day today so I headed downtown to see some friends and do a little shopping.  While I was out I saw someone burning money which is a fairly common scene around the streets of Taiwan at certain times of the year.

Magazine and CD Covers

Something I’m excited to share.  I have been selling photos through a stock agency for the past couple of years and have finally found where some of the photos are being used.  One of the photos was was used on the cover of a German magazine called FACTS.  Another photo will be used on a CD cover.  I don’t have all the facts on the CD yet, but as soon as I do I’ll be the first in line to buy a copy.

Reflector Assistant

I just wanted to say that Laura must be the most underpaid photography assistant ever. She’ll put in an hour’s work for one coffee at Starbucks. I wish everyone could have seen her climbing over walls trying to catch the best light last weekend. She’s awesome and I’m lucky. Thanks Laura!

Will work for coffee
